I second that! And to add just a little plea on behalf of the animals, if any of you out there have any free time on your hands, the Shelter can ALWAYS use volunteers even for short periods. The dogs love to get out of their cages for walks, grooming, etc. and the cats truly appreciate quality time and cuddles. Little things truly mean a lot to these animals and lots of purrs and tailwags will be your reward!

I know this is coming a bit late to the discussion, but I had to add my two cents. If you go to the website listed above -- www.humanesocietyofstthomas.com -- you will see a navigation list to the left of the page. Close to the bottom there's a link called 'Wish List', and it breaks my heart. The stuff they put on their list is stuff that a humane society here in the states wouldn't even consider opening its doors without. Latex gloves, shoeboxes for kitty toys, collars and leashes, tennis balls . . . basic, basic necessities like garbage bags and paper towels.

Please please consider buying and donating some of these items to the USVI Humane Society! I support dog and cat rescue organizations and I personally have rescued and fostered a few cats. My family has rescued three poodles and a Cheasapeake Bay/border collie cross so far. We believe in supporting our local SPCA offices.

I will be sending off a care package to STT's Humane society tomorrow!!! It might take some time to get there from the wilds of Minnesota, where I live, but I can't stand hearing that there's a humane society in need of basic things we take for granted up here in the states. I can't afford to send them any financial donations but I can and will buy a box of latex gloves for 1.50 and send it through USPS.

(Great website, by the way! The information here is literally priceless, and has helped me quite a lot)

Whitewater, a newbie
