i'm not one of the east end/east coast dillietants that has the luxury of leaving this island when they get tired of it, i'm invested here, this is home and at this point i have no other choice, we made our leap and we sold the house in mpls we made the committment to move here

I understand. I'm in a very similar position. I'm invested here. This is home. I have no house stateside to return to. Different from you though, I believe we always have (or nearly always have) a choice. Sometimes they're not choices we want to make. Sometimes there's a pretty big price tag attached to that choice but, with luck, the day I find myself without choices will day that I am dead. LOL...and maybe not even then!

Get Firearms Training; The probability of serious injury from an attack is 2.5 times greater for women offering no resistance than for women resisting with a gun. When a woman is armed with a gun or knife, only 3% of rape attacks are completed, compared to 32% when unarmed.
just a thot

Troy, how can you hate me? I love you. I am your friend and I have always been. No matter what. Friends tell each other the truth. Troy, call me. I care for you my friend. 690-8277. I could PM you but I say this out in public. I love you Troy.

I too own my house, but if was miserably unhappy here I would sell my house and move on, even if it meant I'd take a financial hit. You know life's too short to be miserable.

Only because you've chosen to spend your discretionary income on paying off your mortgage early. Most people pay off their mortgage over a longer period of time, in order to have monthly savings they can use to get away once in awhile.

Alienating the people who care about you is a warning sign with which I'm sure you are familiar. Please pay attention to it Troy.

don't care, i'm under the US flag here which is why i picked this place instead of a non us flag place,. i wan't those bitching rights and safety from a gov kicking me out when they get the whim

My spouse and I would prefer to live under the US flag as well. Miss the USVI desperately. We have experienced a life different than our family and friends and want to return to island living. They think we are crazy. Also think many are envious because they dream of a different life, but could never actually climb up out of the tractor ruts.

We know a few people on Grand Cayman. Crime is very low, mostly petty theft. We are both fortunate to have skills that make us employable. Cannot get a job there unless employers show proof they could not fill the position with qualified locals. Also cannot immigrate without financial proof that you can support your household on your income. My employer secured us a place for 3 mos on Seven Mile Beach. We are just now beginning immigration process. Hope it goes well.

WE love STX, but will not live in fear everyday. Will not go to all the trouble to relocate and not be able to enjoy the island at will. I think Grand Cayman is the place for us for now. Pulling for the USVI Officials to get their act together.
