Hi, I am 22 years old and a recent college graduate. I am moving to St. John at the end of May. Looking at this board and other sites it seems the best step to take in order to find a job and housing is to check the board at "Connections." Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am not coming down with anyone, how easy is it to meet people in their 20s? What is the average pay for a server? How easy is it to get a job working on a charter boat? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jason

May is after high season. STJ is the most expensive of the Virgins so it would be a good idea to save up as much as you possibly can. Housing is scarce & pricey. Don't want to rain on your parade. Others have done it for sure but just have enough for a ticket home in case you don't like it or it doesn't work out. Have you been there before? Even if you have, you might want to invest in a pre-move visit to really see what it's like to live there by pricing rentals & talking to residents. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. I have been many times before and will be spending a week later this month to try to talk to some residents and landlords. I have around $10,000 saved up. I am considering staying for 8-14 months and if I love it maybe longer...

That's good. Hope it all works out for you. There was a girl who moved to STJ who was on here several months back. She got a job in a small hotel/guest house if I recall correctly. Maybe she'll see this & can give some advice.
