Hi everyone

We have booked our short PMV for next month- can't wait! We are starting to get more than a little concerned about the lack of inventory out there for 3 bedroom furnished rentals. We had a great house but didn't act fast enough and lost out on it. We are working with a realtor and she's great- but if anyone knows of anything out there please let me know!! Thanks so much!

Keep checking craigslistvi too as there are several private listings there and if they're available when you come for your PMV you can check them out then.

Hey all

thanks so much for the tip- I think we are going to put down a deposit on that 3 bedroom. Quick question- is Cotton Valley a nice area? Our PMV is still a few weeks away, but I'm nervous we will lose out on the house if we wait until then to put down a deposit.

Thanks

Not every where........I rent in a nicely paved area & will be buying in another paved location soon. Neither are gated communities, but the roads are well maintained.
Cotton Valley is a nice area, that we can agree on, but the HOA there needs to step up & fix the goat trails, er um roads. What exactly does the CV HOA provide for the yrly dues they charge?

Roads in Cotton valley are glass smooth when compared to anything in the west end! The perfect car for this island would be an early nineties Porsche 964-C4 with rally suspension. You have long stretches of great open road interrupted by gigantic unmarked speed bumps (and ditch crossovers) all over the island.

If you send me a link to the house I will try to walk over there (still learning the neighborhood) and take some photos of the area.

Something to consider is whether or not you will have a car and if not how far it is too the bus/taxi route. That was my biggest complaint when I first moves and I was only a mile! I can't imagine living further away without reliable transportation. Trust me the roads are very hard to walk (lots of hills and verrryy hot).
Cotton Valley is like 6 miles to bus route.

CLBean,

Is there any chance you could post an actual street address and/or google map pin for the property? I believe that "163 Cotton Valley" is the (i think?) estate address which I haven't yet figured out an easy way to map back to an actual street address (anyone?). I emailed the RE agent but he wasn't able to help. I can take a walk down "Cotton Valley Shores" and "Cotton Valley Trail" for the hell of it.

I just emailed my own Realtor to ask her. We are now considering another house in Cotton Valley too. And agreed- have not had the best dealings with the listing Realtor! Thank you so, so much for your help- I'll buy you a beer when we get down there!!! I will let you know when I hear back. Thanks again- Colleen

It bears repeating for new arrivals -- be very cautious if you are renting something sight-unseen. If you can get a month-to-month lease, do it. There are many, many reasons why something that looks perfect in Internet photos might not work out for you.
