talk to Ray at Target Tires in 5-Corners. He puts in split systems at a good price.

I am purchasing my Mitisbushi splits from Quality Electric. They recommended an installer. I have talked to him and he is very knowledgeable. Worked in Texas before coming to the VI so he understands customer service. If you want his name PM and I will dig out his card.

You can purchase units cheaper, but check if they stock parts for them locally. My neighbor just had to replace a year and a half year old unit because parts were not available.

To get five years life out of your AC be sure that you have a heavy duty whole house surge protector and that you have the compressor installed in a location where you can wash it down once a month. The salt air eats the fins off the compressor quick enough as it is.

Also be sure to check the efficency of the unit you are buying. Stuff they no longer can sell in the US has been diverted to the Caribbean. With WAPAs rates the pay back for higgh efficency units can be quite quick.

We had Corvinus Climate Control (773-1098) install 3 mini-split units in our house on STX back in 2002. We got 3 bids and they were all in the same ballpark so we went with Corvinus since they seemed the most professional by far. They did a quality installation job and when we had problem with one of the units late the following year they came out the next day and replaced a circuit board at no cost.
