EE,

The St. Croix Source of August 22, 2002, has an article titled "Trail of Dying Trees Leads to Predator Beetle" which discusses another beetle that's been eating Agaves on St. Thomas. Maybe this is the answer.

Hmm...well, it has been at least a couple of years since I have seen an agave in this neck of the woods, maybe that is it... Thanks FOG, you ARE a wealth of knowledge!!
