Hey Just looking for a bit of info. Me and my husband are living on a tiny island in the Mexican Caribbean and are thinking of relocating to St. Thomas. I am confident that i can find a job as a waitress or bartender but my husband is a dive master. Could anyone tell me about the possibilities of him hooking a job as a dive master there it just seems in such a place thats the last thing they may be looking for. thanks

Janice,

I've read about the terrific diving all over the USVI and am really anxious to try myself when I get there. Search this site and you will find a wealth of information on diving, moving, just about everything you want to know, including the vi phone book's site, which escape's me at the moment. But it's here, and you'll find it.

Good luck,
John

Hello Janice,

There is very good diving in the USVI... St. Croix is famous for "the wall"... anyhow there are dive operators here that do dive certification, dive charters, dive vacation packages... there is potential for a job.

there are a few openings for divemasters, but you put yourself in much more demand, not to mention a better pay scale,to finish the ICD and become an Instructor. Most dive ops like Instructors because the arent limited in what duties they can perform for them. Another option is to work as a divemaster for a company that has a course director and offer to sign a contract to work for them for a certain amount of time if they train you and put you throught the IDC and IE
Good Luck
