Okay, here is an interesting line from AeroMD:

"AeroMD reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to determine whether the Member's
medical condition warrants medical evacuation, the location to which the Member will be
evacuated and the means or method by which such evacuation or repatriation will be carried out. "

So, I suspect you would be taken to Puerto Rico from the VI.

At least MASA lets you choose your destination, if you require evacuation.

If you're thinking of signing up for any of these services, it behooves you to read the terms of service as diligently as you should when signing any contract whether it's a lease agreement, a bank loan, insurance or any sort of contractual agreement. The litigious world would be severely diminished if only people would take the time to actually read what they're signing to. 😀

I personally have insurance from AeroMD and the process was so simple. Prior to AeroMD I had MASA and they bought out my MASA membership and my insurance from Aero became effective immediately.

Cira is my aunt who yes does work there. I was actually browsing the internet looking for information on how to obtain a health card at the hospital and I came across this forum and I thought it was interesting. I can definitely assure you that AeroMD is great because I've seen them in action and they are awesome at what they do.

Actually you kind of have it a little backwards...what that means is that they would take you to your hospital of choice, however based on the situation if you're in need of treatment for something specific, and the hospital you want to go to isn't really suitable for your condition, they can make the decision to take you to a hospital designed to best suit your situation. Best interest of the patient's life I guess.

Just so we're all clear, I am not a sales rep. This is a forum which asks for the opinions of it's users, I just so happened to be familiar with both companies and favor one more than the other based on previous experience.

Well said and thanks for clearing air which some assumed to be murky!

Funny, because a Cira is listed on Aero MD website as sales rep. There's even a photo.

Yes, if you looked at previous posts, I did state that that is my aunt. Her and I are two completely different people. She's 40 something and I am 26. I'm sorry if anyone feels offending for supporting in a company I believe in. As I'm sure many of you do on a daily basis.

On that basis, ignore the other respondents who've signed up for services but have never had cause to actually use them.

But have you had to use their service to be medically evacuated for treatment away from the VI? Just curious!

AeroMD is the best bargain you could possibly get. For individual insurance it's only $299 a year with no hidden fees or anything. Their family insurance holds up to 6 members for only $499 a year, and $75 for each additional family member. They have beautiful brand new jets along with on call respiratory care therapist, doctors, nurses and an amazing flight crew. Also, unlike MASA, they are not a brokerage company and are able to get you off the island within an hour whereas their competitors may take anywhere from 24-72 hours. They are the best bet.

While the King Air turboprop and Lear that usually are parked near Jet Center on STT are nicely painted, they are not new aircraft.

Let the buyer beware. For ANY medical air evacuation policy: READ the fine print and understand what it does or doesn't do.
