Last night, Christmas Eve, I had the initial feeling (panic) of what it's like to be without a walmart or target...as everything closed down at 6pm...and I was stuck trying to find much needed items at 7-11. I know that there is a Kmart on the island, but even here in the states I have a hard time finding what I need at Kmart.

I have read alot of the posts on here about what to ship, what to leave behind. And I think I have my 'to ship list" completed. But I am concerned about the things that I will need once I have been there awhile, and I was wondering what companies ship to STX? For Clothes, household stuff and impulsive online purchases? The only one I have heard of is CVS so far.

I have family in the states who can ship stuff to me, like the deals from TJMAXX on sheets and towels and random things from Costco....but I am still wondering which online companies will ship. I am a big fan of overstock.com, ebay, campmor.com, walmart.com, and kodakgallery.com and many more.....

I'm trying to tie up loss ends here before I move down and make sure I bring everything I need. Thanks!

All the big companies ship here. You will only have trouble with the small websites (and not always) and trying to ship electronics to a PO box and/or overseas. And even then there are companies that will work with you. And there are other stores besides Kmart here. STT has wonderful shopping and STX does as well you just have to know where to look. Personally some of my favorite home stores like Sampson House are often cheaper then Kmart and definitely better quality.

For vendors that won't ship to STX or for items to large to mail VI Cargo works very well.

It will cost you extra for the shipping from FLA to STX and will add a week or twp to the delivery time, but they are very dependable.

Hi,
It's been awhile since this list was updated, but the Coakley Bay Condo website has a listing of businesses that ship to the USVI. I would recommend checking the shipping policy before ordering, as some policies may have changed since this list was initially created.

Here is the link: http://www.coakleybay.org/

On the left hand side, select "Owners' Section" (toward the bottom) and scroll down to the bottom of the Owners' Section page. Select "Living in the Virgin Islands" under the heading "New Section."

Hope this helps. Kim

IslandGrace,
We kicked this subject around a while back, within the last year, and everyone was chiming in with their favorite stores that ship here. It was amazing how many do. The only things I have ever had any problem with are electronics and chemicals. By chemicals, I mean some cleaning supplies, paint type products and even my favorite shampoo. However, I have had success in having those types of items shipped, just not the particular brand. So, I can only assume some brands have ingredients that are not allowed to be shipped. I have also had success with some electronics.
In my opinion, one can have a very nice quality of life without ever having anything shipped in. It's just a matter of personal tastes. Having said that, I admit to being a QVC junkie, and I do enjoy the occasional jaunt to San Juan, where you can find anything!
Don't worry too much about that kind of thing. If you have any on-going prescriptions, or even over the counter meds that you need, you might want to stock up. Meds are more expensive here.

Wow, I wasn't expecting such a long list!! That's amazing so many companies ship....I'm not such of a shopper anyways...but when I find something that works...I like to stick with that product. Thanks for the facts.

And why are electronics so hard to ship?

I think Ebay depends on the particular seller.

Most of the sellers I have won auctions with have shipped down here no problem, but one or two have policies of only shipping to the 48 contiguous states.

You need to check out the seller's shipping policy before you bid.

Isn't that for appliance delivery or big items like that via UPS? I thought they mailed regular catalog items via US Mail:

Sears.com uses four shipping methods: U.S. Postal Service, UPS package delivery, Home Delivery and Special Oversized Delivery Handling. Not all methods are available for all items.

U.S. Postal Service is used to ship gift cards and all orders to APO/FPO* addresses.

* Please note that although our website reflects a ship date based on the APO/FPO zip code, we ask that you allow an additional 4-6 weeks for the military postal service to deliver your package to its final overseas destination.

Oh, Lillian Vernon also mails here.

No. Sears does not ship to the USVI -- even by US Mail.
50 States and PR. When I researched this I called -- because
the website was ambiguous. They seemed unsure, so I
simply tried to order something very small. No go.

Thanks for the update, Carl. They sure used to mail, if I remember correctly. The wording is kind of strange on their site.
