Altona Lagoon - Bioluminescent?

Hi everyone! I had heard STX had bioluminescent bays but didn’t realize one was supposed to be at Altona Lagoon.  Is it true that lagoon has that feature? If so has anyone gone there to check it out?  Is it safe at night there to go just on a family trip or should you only book a group excursion? (On my mind is whether to buy some inflatable paddle boards or kayaks to do this and other things in the future or just to book a group excursion and go here or on the north shore where it seems there is another one).  Thanks for any input!

Never heard Altona was bioluminescent, I believe the main spot for that is salt river. There’s at least two companies doing those kinds of tours, I know the moon needs to be at a certain phase for it as well. Search “bioluminescent tours St. Croix USVI” for their websites/info.
