We are planning on moving to STT in Jan. 2014 and are looking for opinions on the pros and cons of Point Pleasant Condo's vs. Sapphire West vs. Mahogany Run? Everyone always has good advise and information so if anyone wants to comment please feel free as your advise is greatly appreciated! We are going to be renting, looking for a 1-2 bedroom place, we have a 2-year old daughter, and are looking for someplace safe etc. Thanks again! Tmccormick

Do you have a job? Housing sometimes IMHO should be reserved to places easy to get to work from. We here always recommend a pre-move visit PMV to get the lay of the land. All the places are nice locations. There are better that can be found for less and equally safe.

Yes! The jobs are covered. We like that side of the island being close to several marinas where our boat will be etc. We are open to all options though. Curious about the better areas though Ronnie? Thanks!

Mahogany Run. while futher from marinas (10 -15 min. drive) is closer to Magens Bay Beach (less than 5 min.) would probably be better if you want a 2 bedroom but be prepared to pay around $2000 - $2500, especially if furnished. Sapphire West, Sapphire Beach, Sapphire Hill all have 1 bedrooms as does Point Pleasant. PM me if you want me to send you some rental listings on MLS to check out.

The Anchorage has a lot of children. Also, with the yacht club next door and Montessori down the street, lots of activities.

At how many marinas will your boat be?:S

Have you done any research? Do a PMV before you dive in. This ain't paradise.

Thanks Alanna33! I have seen some properties online in Mahogany and they do appear to be more expensive! I don't mind being 15 minutes away from some of the marinas! Our boat most likely will be at Compass Point Marina. We will only have one vehicle so we want to make sure there are things to do in the complex we choose (ie decent beach, pools etc.). I have heard some mixed reviews about the actual grounds at Sapphire being rundown etc. We saw a place online in Point Pleasant that looked good but don't know much about the grounds there? If you have any other areas/condo complexes we should look at please let me know! Thanks!

Thanks EastEnder! I will look at Anchorage! The boat will be kept at Compass Point Marina or Sapphire. Not sure yet. We want to narrow down our potential condo locations as much as possible so we can weigh the pros and cons of each. I have heard places like Sapphire are going downhill as far as the grounds are concerned. We would like a place well kept with decent pools, beaches, a restaurant etc. thanks again for the input!

Ditto. If you can come down and visit before the actual move (if you haven't), much better. Things look and "feel" different in person than online.
