Any cheap places to buy furniture on St. John?

There's a consignment shop that has some used (not stylish) furniture on the road past Inn at Tamarind, just before (or after?) the laundramat going towards Starfish. Can't remember the name and believe me, these are the type of directions you'll get down there! They have clothes, dishes and kitchen stuff, nothing too expensive or fancy... recycled by people leaving, I presume. Good luck!

Nope, the one in Cruz Bay is called "The Pheonix."

The stuf at Castaways in Coral Bay is usually much nicer.

No K-Mart on St. John but there is one on St. Thomas. If you go to the Fairy dock in Red Hook they might be able to tell you how big the items can be to take on the Fairy. I have seen people bring luggage, and other large things, just not sure about furniture. Also seen very large items go to Tortola. Good luck!
