Anyone know anything?

I actually have a rental request for October/November from someone who is planning to work at the Home Depot.

The building is built, they were installing AC units on the roof yesterday. I'd say they are on schedule for their target of mid 2011, soon come.

Rode by today, just to see it with my own eyes. Yep! Looks like a Home Depot. (tu)

I'm sure the prices will be higher, the stt home depot is definitely higher. Hopefully it'll make the mom and pops here have more reasonable prices.

The prices in the STT have gone up and up. A 2 x 4 x 8 was 3.00 then they opened up. Mow it is almost 5! They have a philsophy that they have a situation were they will make the store objectives because there is nothing around. I have news for them. M &M is cheaper on most electrical supplies. East End is better for nails and screws. MSI is better on some lumber things and it is a better quality. HD is better on most appliances, windows and bathroom and kitchen stuff. And very good on tile. The service is getting better, but still not good. They have lots of people but they know nothing except the can talk to their friends. It is a please to go to sea chest where they can help, not just say I don't know.

All in all HD has been good here in STT. They have some stuff that no one else has. I could never have rebuilt my house without them, even after shipping down a 40 foot container!

But shop around. Your local stores may get close to the HD prices.

Good Luck STX!

There's now a facebook page for the Island Crossing shopping center that will house the Home Depot. I hope it looks as good as the drawing!

Awning & sign are up on the building. I have heard 9-15-11 as the Grand Opening - not confirmed.

This opening date reminds me of when HD opened their first store in Puerto Rico. A hurricane went through the island weeks after opening and they sold out almost everything in the store, and got an award for highest store sells for the month. Will history repeat?
