I have been reading and reading and reading all these messages trying to get an idea of what I will need to do for relocation. I know I will be doing a PMV, if I plan to move in September, when should I plan my PMV for?

Also, having a car is not an option for me as I will be paying a car loan for a car at home. It seems too pricey to ship a car at first but am also stuck in the loan for now. I keep reading that it is really hard to not have a car, but people must get by without one right?

I am planning to move to St.Thomas and seem to see that the East End might be a good centrally located place to not have a car. I will be looking for a job in a restaraunt, shop, or anything of that nature(something fairly stress free) and really want to be close to the beach, walking distance.

So, if you were 25 years old, with no car, living on St.Thomas, where would you like to live and where would you find the most enjoyable? I'm just looking for opinions and advice from people who have been in this position before.

I will have at least one roommate and would like my rent per person to be around $400 per month. We are definately willing to share a room in a one bedroom. Is this realistic? I am planning to come down with about $6,000 as a security but will also be paying my loan at home too. Rent in this price range is very important to me.

Any advice is a great help, thanks so much and I hope you are enjoying the weather because it is very cold here on the East Coast!

Dear interested: You say you've been reading the posts vut I think that maybe you've only been reading Page 1 and haven't been doing your research very well at all,

Anyway, if you're thinking of moving here in September, A PMV is good at any time and is a very good idea.

A car is a good idea here. As has been said in many previous posts, getting around here without wheels is a bit of a chore and can be expensive.

Seems that you don't want to sell your stateside wheels because you might want to hie back if moving here doesn't work out? If that be close to the truth, then make sure that you come here with enough money to tide you over for at least three months.

You're 25 years old, looking for a stress-free working situation in a restaurant or shop within walking distance to a beach and looking for an apartment-sharing situation for $400 pp and you have $6K to play with.

A "stress-free" working situation here, whether in the restaurant business or in retail sales generally is a pipe dream.

Use some of that $6K for a PMV, have a great vacation here and, during your PMV, really research your options in moving here and then come to a well thought out strategy where your dream is concerned.

If you are planning to LIVE and WORK on the east end, a car isn't absolutely necessary. Hitch-hiking and safari has you covered. $400 won't happen. $700 will. $6000 is enough. See you soon.
