We are going to be in STX the first of May looking for a condo. I have heard a little about being near the water is VERY bad on all of your appliances and other belongings. Since the island is only 5 to 7 miles wide, and you could only be 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 miles from the beach, does it really make much difference?

In my opinion, yes, you should be diligent in applying car wax to your appliances, parking your radiator away from the wind, and expect your electronics to not last as long. We are starting a project now to replace our residence AC plugs. The salt sea air gets into everything.

Will it still do that inland 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 miles, or just take a little longer?

Hello Terry,

It will take longer if you are further from the beach/coast.
