If you need god to explain how everything was created then who created god? If you can accept that god has always existed then why not skip a step and say that the universe has always existed. Why does man need to create a god to explain things?

If the bible is the inspired word of an omniscient being then why does it only contain knowledge of things known to men living 2000-4000 years ago? Why no mention of simple things like: the earth is round not flat, the earth revolves around the sun and is not the center of the universe. Simple things that would show a little knowledge not known to men of the time. It doesn't contain a single piece of new information and is in fact wrong about what it does say in several instances. Because it was written by man, no divine inspiration, just man.

Man created god in his own image for his own purposes.

if the universe is not eternal, and therefore has a beginning.... what could possibly create what we call the universe but the thing we call god? and if the universe is eternal, no beginning or end, why would there be creatures who contemplate so much about it? you'll say "evolution", but what is evolution besides the thinking of species. and thinking is intelligence. what place does intelligence have in eternal matter? would not everything just "be" and not ask itself why it is?

in other words, we are part of the universe and therefore we are the universe. so the universe asks itself why it exists...? this makes no sense without god.

Darwin wrote the "Origin of Species". well, it should have been the origin of species on earth. a man could tell me EVERYTHING there is to know about the earth, but he cannot tell me where the earth comes from.

the reason we believe in god is simply because the thought exists. and if we take the time to contemplate the idea, we realize nothing else makes sense. and man did not create thought or intelligence, it grew out of him. just as it did with all other life.

the only argument an "atheist" has is that the universe has always existed. and what you are really saying is that all this matter surrounding us and making us has just always been around and happen to spit out some creatures that think too much. now that's a stretch of the imagination, not god.

Community and rituals all signs of an organized religion.

Ah, What's the matter Roto, starting to have an identity crises. You call anyone with Religion stupid because of faith, organization and rituals, also you call people names. I don't want to add, just want to show you how ignorant you really are. You don't like it too bad!

I don't believe that I have ever called anyone stupid or ignorant. I have repeatedly said that I believe that religion is superstitious nonsense. I have also posted studies which show an inverse correlation between religiousness and intelligence but I have never made a personal attack against anyone. You are the one who constantly makes personal attacks. You really have a problem. Have you thought about getting help?

We cannot prove how we got here and likely never will.
If the universe is a product of the monoblock exploding into our universe where did the monoblock originate.
If 'god' created everything where did 'god' originate. Always was and always will be is circular logic explaining nothing.
I guess my views therefore make me an athiest. So what? Does this effect my worth as a human being? Someone to be feared? Reviled? Why?

Why not have a beer, enjoy the beautiful sunrise, and not worry about it?

I don't want to add, just want to show you how ignorant you really are. You don't like it too bad!

So, your purpose on this thread is not to add anything, it is to show me how ignorant I am?

That explains a lot. You are not here to participate in the discussion you have a different agenda. You need help.

Roto,
There is no discussion, just your constant crying about Religion month after month, and preaching the evils of religion. One would question who needs help. It's sad that someone can be that miserable day after day.

Lizard,
There are others besides myself who have expressed their opinions on this thread. That is what makes a discussion, an exchange of ideas. You seem to only be on this thread to act as a disruptive element. You obviously have no interest in discussing non-theism which is why this thread was started. You seem to only be interested in showing us how witty you are.

You seem to object to us having this discussion so rather than simply ignore it you have made it your mission to be disruptive. If your belief system is none of our business then why are you participating in a thread which is discussing belief systems. Wouldn't you be happier if you just went and played somewhere else?

John

Roto,
Witty? Just bringing your do as I say not as I do to the surface. Your attempt to sell Atheism is no different than any religion, community/rituals/beliefs. Like I said if you don't like it too bad. Oh BTW discussing belief systems is laughable, the thread should be called "slam all religions". However when challenged you go into personal attack mode, that must be the new enlightened society's SOP.
