ATM fees charged by banks for NON CUSTOMERS:

Banco Popular = $2.50 per transaction

Bank of St Croix = $2.50 per transaction

GUESS WHICH BANK JUST RAISED THEIR NON CUSTOMER ATM FEE????

FIRST BANK!!!

Ready for this????

$5.00 per transaction. FIVE DOLLARS!!!!

DISGUSTING!

(...yes...I have accounts with local banks...but needed to access my stateside accounts)

Banks are making record breaking profits on fees charged to their own customers and non customers. It easy to see why.

I hope that Banco Popular and Bank of St Croix will not follow suit and raise their fees...

Why did this need two posts?

Just bank with a local bank. *shrug* And transfer money from your stateside bank to your local as necessary. Usually that's free or low cost.

Julie...didn't realize posted twice. first attempt showed as "spam"...how do I delete one of the posts?

CruzanIron...lol...I own stock in my stateside bank...but even I don't think its kosher to see higher fees on accounts and services.

How about fees for scotia bank non customers?

So far, they have never charged additional fees on my Bank of America card... On the ComData card they charge me the lowest fee of all banks, $1.50...

I've never had an ATM card in the 10 years that I've lived here. Where I came from, you could do practically everything at an ATM that you could do at a teller...pay bills, make deposits, transfer funds and more. But here, ATM's are really only for cash withdrawals.

I like to pay small expenses with cash, that's why.
I'm sure that I'm not the only one.

I usually have cash on hand for small expenses but use a check or credit card to pay for others.
I go to the bank once a month, make my deposits, take some cash out, pay WAPA bill and some others and I'm done for the month.
Think I used the ATM card I have once in 8 -10 yrs. I certainly don't believe the Bank should be charging fees for its use when they use your money to their benefit and when you can hardly get a decent interest rate for a CD or a savings account plus all the other fees they charge. They can keep their ATM's.

I generally take what ever cash I'll need for the week. If I get it as cash back when shopping I save the ATM fee.

my bank doesn't charge me to use the ATM for deposits or withdrawals, and it is a big time saver for me, so I have no reason not to use one.

What do you consider 'decent interest' in today's market?

Home Depot also gives you cash back at the self-serve checkout machines. Very convenient!
