Thought this might be helpful info for people new to the island. Check with your bank regarding their schedule this week. We use mostly FirstBank, and they will close tomorrow (Wed.) at noon and reopen January 10, 2011.
Other businesses and government offices will have a lighter week as well. If you are planning to do some sort of business with the gov., i.e. car registration, license, etc., do check with the appropriate office.

On STX is it Christmas festival time, mid December to 3 Kings day. It's like carnival but Christmas

Three Kings Day (a.k.a. Epiphany) is January 6. It marks the end of the holiday season.

3 Kings Day - Epiphany. East and West Calenders combined made it 12 Day's of Christmas. The Virgin Islands is not alone in the celebration of the Epiphany.
