Would any one like to guess how much it costs the taxpayers for the Prez to go to Hawaii. Keep in mind the effort needed to pull it off.:-o

I'm guessing each trip was in the 100 million dollar range.

4 million.

Not unreasonable or out of line when compared to past presidents. Most of the money is spent on flying Air Force 1 and the other planes for the cars and such. And those cars and security measures are designed to keep him and his family safe.

I'm thinking that's about right. They take both Air Force 1 aircraft in case something happens to one of them. Next they need the C131 transport plane to bring the presidential limos and other support vehicles. Then you have to account for the White House staff, the secret service and every one needed to serve the Prez. Let's not forget accommodations for every one because they all can't stay at his aunts house. And last but not least the U.S. Navy gets involved some where during the time he's over the Pacific. I think that about does it.:-o

And we pay for all that stuff whether it's in readiness at Andrews AFB or in the air to Hawaii or anywhere else. We pay for the Secret Service, the staff, the cars etc. anyway. The trip costs are mainly fuel and lodging, plus the local reimbursement for things like heightened police presence (overtime) etc.

And as was pointed out earlier, the Obamas take fewer vacations, hence spend fewer of our tax dollars, than most past presidents, by a wide margin.

ps: love 'Addicting Info'

It's doubtful since he doesn't travel alone either. It may have generated some income for STX. Everthing was on the taxpayers once again.

Regardless of cost, I don't think Obama should be spending millions of taxpayer dollars to go on vacations when the whole country is starving to death. Instead of addressing major issues he's more concerned with the N.B.A. than American citizens being out of work for years at a time. The unemployment rate has been at 10% for what seems like years. People are losing their homes and businesses at a staggering rate. While our president is sunning his behind in places like Hawaii. He should be making that kind of effort handing out food at a homeless shelter and at least pretend he cares. The country is in the same shape or worse than it was when he took office. He's no better than the idiots on wall street that got us into this mess in the first place.:X

Folks, it is well documented on the internet. Obama's 2011 Christmas vacation to Hawaii cost the taxpayers $4 million. I would be curious to know how much Biden's vacation to STX cost, but that is not covered by MSM.

If anyone wants to back up a figure more than $4 million for Obama in Hawaii, please do us the courtesy of including sources.

Every president travels and when presidents travel they have to bring people with them - every president. Part of the cost of doing business. I can't understand what the big deal is about this president. EVERY president in the modern age has incurred the same type of expenses. I believe that any president's personal expenses during these trips are a relatively small part of the whole, the majority being security and work related.

Travel for diplomatic purposes is one thing. Using taxpayer money to take two vacations with your family to Hawaii during a economic crisis is yet another. Does anyone remember how congress criticized General Motors for taking their corporate jet to Washington to ask for bailout money? Can you say hypocrites? That's what the BIG DEAL is about with this "president".
Maybe he'll take his favorite NBA team with him next. They seem to be high on his list of priorities.:-X

If there is a human being who deserves vacation time, I think it may be the president of the united states!! I need vacation time and my job is pretty freaking stress-free in comparison!

I am neither Dem/Rep, both are worthless.....!

What I find disheartening is the fact Congress is not functioning and the President and cronies have abandoned their elected positions to begin campaigning on taxpayer dime almost 1.5 years ahead of the election!!! That really pisses me off! There is not a move made by this administration that is not campaign motivated!

I personally believe we would all be better off with new players. It appears any effort to control the economy and reduce spending is geared toward trashing the other at our expense.

NONE OF THE PRESENT MEMBERS OF "INSIDE THE BELTWAY" DESERVE TO RETURN!!!!!

It is like the idiot comment of Ronald Russell to Wes Small......." We are making every effort to get the Federal Govt to bail us out and send the territory more money......it is not our money, there's plenty where that came from" good luck Senator!

The territory is taking a long walk off a short pier!

😮 Seriously WGAF, do you think the President doesn't care? I'd bet that over the last three years he has averaged many more hours working each week than you ever did. And like anyone that works hard he deserves to take a vacation. Unlike most people though, when the POTUS takes a vacation it is always a working vacation. There are daily briefings and other matters he MUST attend to. The entourage that follows him wherever he goes follow every President wherever they go. It is part of the protocol for the President's and the Nation's safety and security.

And while yes, I agree that there are a lot of problems, it is unconscionably unfair of you to blame it all on Obama. He did not create the mess, but has been trying to lead us out of it. Unfortunately, he has been met with spiteful opposition at nearly every turn. I don't think you can document any elected democratic leader declaring of a sitting President:

"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

-- Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), in an interview with the National Journal, describing his goal in retaking the Senate.

Has he made mistakes? Yes, but again, I'll challenge you to name a President that hasn't. Has he done some things right? Ask the U.S. automakers.

Always remember that it was Bush that cleared the way for the Wall Streeters, and your beloved Ronald Reagan did compromise http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/02/05/142288/reagan-centennial/ ), and did raise taxes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJxlYV4MJJo

My point was that every president goes on vacation and/or visits his hometown during good times and bad. I don't understand why this president is being criticised for something that EVERY president does. Bush traveled after 911, often. Johnson and Nixon traveled during Vietnam. I bet Roosevelt and Truman traveled during WWII. And the government traveled with them.

Lee Iacoca only had one little problem, Chrysler products sucked and as I recall The US Govt Bailed Chrysler out by buying K Cars.:-o That was to insure Chrysler didn't go belly up and The Govt would get it's money back. No Cash for Lee but a lot of stock and stock options (read his book)! The Auto workers Union was happy. Recently the Banks didn't fail because of the Govt Rescued them. The bottom line is we can no longer live on "CREDIT" The People. Business, and Govt, and no longer be the Police of the world. for starters.:S

Really? And you're making this assumption based on what? Your superior intellect? And no, I don't think he cares. He's too busy taking $4 million vacations and solving the NBA'S problems.;)
