He was all over the news more than once because of the NBA lockout.
And no I don't think the 4 mil is just for fuel. It's the total "reported" cost of the trip.

Regardless of cost, I don't think Obama should be spending millions of taxpayer dollars to go on vacations when the whole country is starving to death. Instead of addressing major issues he's more concerned with the N.B.A. than American citizens being out of work for years at a time. The unemployment rate has been at 10% for what seems like years. People are losing their homes and businesses at a staggering rate. While our president is sunning his behind in places like Hawaii. He should be making that kind of effort handing out food at a homeless shelter and at least pretend he cares. The country is in the same shape or worse than it was when he took office. He's no better than the idiots on wall street that got us into this mess in the first place.:X

😮 Seriously WGAF, do you think the President doesn't care? I'd bet that over the last three years he has averaged many more hours working each week than you ever did.

Really? And you're making this assumption based on what? Your superior intellect? And no, I don't think he cares. He's too busy taking $4 million vacations and solving the NBA'S problems.;)

Testy aren't you WGAF?

O.K. How 'bout this. Some one come up with a single thing he's done to improve the economy. And don't say cash for clunkers stimulated the auto industry. That's like saying boners for bimbos improved the contraception industry.:D

Your credibility is seriously compromised when, in the space of an hour or less, your assertion of the cost of a US President's vacation can go from a staggering and fantastic $100 million to a realistic and documented $4 million without batting an eyelid. (td)

Johnnywishbone,
Well since you are familiar with wish and Duh, you probably wouldn't understand if I explained the difference between a relocation board and Obama Trip to Hawaii. Shouldn't matter to us because it's not our dime, we don't pay federal income tax:-o So Mr Snarky have a good day "NOT".:D

We certainly do pay Federal income tax but it stays in the Territory.

OldTart,
Our tax dollars do not go to support the US Gov! The USVI TAX dollars stay in the territory to finance the daily operations of the USVI Govt only. We do not contribute to the Federal Income Tax System via Personal Income. We do pay for Social Security and Medicare via deductions by employers or self insured which is not suppose to go into the General fund. The Territory has no voting representation in Congress,Senate, and we don't vote for the President. Our Dime as I Stated doesn't Pay for the Presidents Vacation.*-)

And your "best guess" was $96 million off the reported actual. Right.

Right. IRS - (Federal) Internal Revenue Service; IRB - (USVI) Internal Revenue Bureau. My wording wasn't probably the best in saying that we pay Federal income taxes as what we pay is based on a "mirror" system. However, we use exactly the same forms as are used by the IRS and the same basic deductions.

You sound surprisingly like some reptile we know.

And P.S. Both trips were 8 mil. But who's counting? Right? Smart ass.

The thread started out on the basis of the cost of one trip which was finally established through various links to have been approximately $4 million. $4 million multiplied by 2 equals $8 million. Why the apparent problem? :S

I'm not sure what the reference to "some reptile we know" signifies but would love to know if you'd care to share (provided of course that it's PG rated). As far as my being a "smart ass", the phrase is somewhat derogatory but if you're intention is to comment that I'm blessed with some intelligence then I thank you for your perspicacity. 😀

Right again! Sorry to hear the V.I. is no longer part of the U.S.A. because we don't pay federal income tax. And I thought all the morons were in Washington Mr. condescending.:P

Now that future residents know that the taxes we pay don't go to the Federal Govt., but stay in the VI Govt., which was about the only fact they will learn as new residents when they read this thread, can we put a stop to this political thread, please?
Have a good day!
