Best place to get computer parts? (STT)

So far I've been pretty unsuccessful locating any place to get computer parts within Tutu, Heavensight and RedHook areas. Radio Shack and all these computer repair shops don't have any computer parts for sale. Unlimited Electronics isn't so "unlimited." Is there any place to get computer parts on island?

Better yet, is there any good online computer parts site I can order from? Newegg, my previously ultimate online shop, is unavailable in VI (which is crappy since they DO ship products via USPS, too).

PC Paradise doesn't sell computer parts. They have Mac products, and do repairs. But no components like cables, etc (I build my own PCs). PC Zone, I'll have to find. I found MicroMax online, but unfortunately according to their site, they are opened only during the hours I'm working; M-F 9-5. Can't really stop in to browse their products.

Any Online computer site that ships to VI? MicroMax's online site is pretty limited -- they don't have the products I'm looking for; Razer Naga Epic mouse, a basic gyro mouse, and a good wireless keyboard that'll work as a family room keyboard.

Thanks

*Edit: I should also mention while mice and keyboards are also within general stores -- I was originally looking for a CD Audio cable, but eventually just ordered it on Amazon. However, Amazon's shipping of electronics is limited and what I'm really looking for is a good place for when I'm ready to rebuild my computer (another year or two--I rebuild/update ever few years).

The website is a bit fugly at times but I just spent the better part of 5 years building PCs on St Thomas and ordered a lot of parts from Directron http://www.directron.com/index.html they are one of the few PC specific places that ship USPS to the USVI (and Puerto Rico).

If I was buying in the states they wouldn't be my first choice but I've always been pretty pleased with them otherwise, they've got a good rating too on resellerratings.com which is nice.

Cheers,
Dave

Try eBay. Most of their sellers ship to the USVI, via USPS.

You could use Tiger Direct, but be prepared to pay. A $4.99 cable cost $72.20 in shipping. Yes, the total cost is $77.19 for a $4.99 audio cable.

george2456: Chalk that up to learning something important. USPS considers the U.S. Virgin Islands as a domestic location. While, all the express carriers consider USVI as an International destination. That is why we always look for a vendor that will use USPS for delivery, so that the shipping cost isn't twice as much, or more, then the item being sent.

Awesome! That looks to be exactly what I'm after. Prices aren't too bad either. The keyboard I snagged from Amazon is the same price on this site (Logitech Wireless Solar keyboard).

Yeah, state-side, NewEgg always got my business. I hadn't been much of a TigerDirect guy, but I know some people that swear by them. Now, NewEgg ships to APO/FPO via USPS. Only if we can just find some way to convince them to ship to USVI via USPS, too...

@georgre2456 As Rocky said, it's all about the shipping method. Look for USPS shipping. That's what makes it more difficult finding decent online sites. UPS has the market, state-side, for shipping parcels.

I've sent multiple emails to Newegg with no luck.

What we need to do is get UPS to offer "Ground" shipping to the VI like they do Puerto Rico. This would fix a lot of our hassles. This might be something to get Donna (Christiansen our Rep) to look at helping negotiate.

Thanks for the Directron link.

Yes, getting UPS Ground rates would cure many more ills than one could possibly count, we'd be a real place to the rest of the states rather than seeming like we are on some alien planet!
Ebay is great, but lately has UPS/USPS issues as well(& the aforementioned $70 shipping for a $5 cable stuff).

I can use my CDW account and have items shipped priority mail. The CD audio cable would be $5.02 and priority mail is $22 with 5 to 8 day delivery. Not quite as bad as $70+

Here's another option: BestBuy.com. They ship to the USVI, looks like via USPS (added a video card to cart, and it estimated shipping at $6 for 00802). Hadn't ordered anything, yet, but this looks to be a viable option for major parts (not cables, of course).

You can also order online from places that won't ship to the VI by having them ship to a family member in the states, and having that family member send the item to you USPS.

Or, we could all put our money together and open our own computer parts store on the island 😛

www.mwave.com

They ship via USPS Priority Mail to the V.I., quick order processing, decent prices & selection. Haven't had a bad experience with them yet after numerous orders.

Or, find ebay "Top-Rated" Sellers that offer shipping via USPS Priority - there are plenty of them.

Heya xXxRUDE have you successfully ordered something from Mwave and had them ship it to you USPS to the USVI?

They are my preferred vendor but everytime I'm working in the USVI I have to go with someone else because they won't ship to me via USPS. They always tell me (and their website says) they will only ship USPS to an APO/FPO military address.

I've been harassing them for years to ship to USVI via USPS to no avail, maybe if we all email them they'll start!

Dave-
They most definitely ship here via USPS, and I've successfully ordered through them for a few years now. When I enter my shipping address, it gives me the cost of shipping Priority Mail and the order completes & is processed without any problems. It's possible that the shipping method does show as Priortiy Mail APO/FPO (I don't remember ATM), but that may just be a default designation they use that also applies to US territories.
