Hey all!
I posted on here last week but I have another question about housing...Let me explain my situation. I'm a college student at Penn State looking to take a semester off to work either at the Westin on St. John or the Marriot on St. Thomas. I will be down there for about 3-4 months. Can any of you offer me any tips on finding temporary housing down there? I've been calling bed and breakfasts as well as guest houses. However, they seem to be tenative on letting me stay that long. The going rate seems to be about $700-$1200/month. If anyone on here lives down there, would they be willing to rent out a room? Thanks for any advice! : )

$700 amonth is an excellent price. But I wouldn't commit to anything without seeing the space first.

Yeah, I am more than willing to pay $700/month for a place in St. Thomas. There is a place called Samuels Cottages renting out for $800/month near Cruz Bay. Anyone know about this place??

Never been in them but I drive past them every day on my way to work, and they look perfectly decent...cute in fact! Good location too...you can walk right into town from the cottages.

There are some reports on Tripadvisor.com. Just search for Samuel's Cottages.

If you're going to be working at the Marriott on STT then accomodation on STJ will be rather a hassle as even if you're within walking distance of the ferry, you're still going to have to get from the ferry on STT to Frenchman's Reef which isn't a short hopand will cost you a bundle in taxi fares.

Do you actually have a job offer from both places? Linda J is right in saying that you should really be hesitant in taking a space unless you've seen it first. Best to first decide which island you're going to be working on and see if maybe they can temporarily accomodate you for a week so that you can find your way around.
