Beth, If you are out there are you still open? I am going off-island for a while and am looking for some good books to take. If anyone knows - please post hours, etc.

Linda,

I recall reading that she no longer has the shop but I can't find the post so perhaps I'm wrong.

She has closed it down. For now? I hope that she will reopen.

No, unfortunately Beth no longer has the bookstore. You might try looking at the Treasure Attic Book Shop, 16 Company Street, 778-5520. They have tons of books, used and new. They are located over the Divi Divi Fabric store. Also of course both the Animal Shelter Thrift Store and the Womens Coalition store, Closet to Closet carries used books.

There is also a bookstore in gallows bay behind the coffee shop (across from post office). They have used and new but the selection is not huge.

I love the animal shelter for browsing for good books. I've found some unusual ones there that I've never seen around here at home. And some good ones from England. Where is the Woman's Coalition shop? Never heard of that one.

Closet to Closet (run by the Women's Coalition), 15 Peters Rest, 773-2503. They are open Wednesday through Saturday (not sure of the hours). From Cost-U-Less driving toward the Brass Key they will be on the right a few buildings before Brass Key and right next to the Ink Drop store. They don't have as many books yet as the Animal Shelter Thrift Store but still have quite a few to browse through.

Hi Linda.. Sorry, it has been a few days since I checked the board. I did close the bookstore.. mainly due to so many car problems, I was rarely able to get there from Fred... not to mention that it just didn't make much money. But I agree with the animal shelter thrift store suggestion.. they have tons of stuff.

The Animal Shelter thrift store has a good selection of books and of course, the profits go to a great cause. Please think of them when you have something good, but no longer wanted, to dispose of. they are also a great place to get supplies from for those who have moved to the Islands and need inexpensive replacement household items.
Of course, the Women's Coalition is a great resource too.

Thank you, PBMO! We're leaving early in the morning for the island and on hearing of all the rain you're getting down there I think we'd better check out the book stores for some rainy day reading material.
