After consulting the Big Brother Big Sister Program's website, I found that the closest agency is in Puerto Rico and does not serve St. Thomas. Does anyone know of a similar program on St. Thomas? After living here for 3 years, I want to help make a positive change for the youth on the island.

I believe the non-profit orgainzation called CASA has a big brother/big sister like program. Contact them. Also, the non-profit Boys and Girls Club (with "clubhouse" in Christiansted) do have several afterschool programs and need volunteers. In addition, the Women's Coalition has a childrens "wing" and an afterschool program that is very nice. One more and very rewarding thing is the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center's Humane Education program where volunteers visit schools to teach our community children about Kindness and good character values. Almost every non-profit has children oriented programs and all need volunteers. Good luck... you'll find it very rewarding and uplifting.
