OK. MV Shalimar has been anchored off Buck Island for a couple of days. Sometime during Sunday night a much larger yacht showed up. Shalimar looks like a dingy sitting next to it.

Anybody know anything about that big mutha out there?

Was out at Buck Island today and saw that big mutha. It looked like it was privately owned, lots of kids in the water around the boat. They were swimming with the dolphins. What a cool site. The boats name was Polar Star.

Lizard. Can I be a guest ? 2 years a go she was anchored at Buck Island, she is definitely a beautiful Yacht. Rather unforgettable.

When I win one of these large lotteries,I'LL buy one like her. I have to breath now,I was turning a little blue from holding my breath on that lottery.

We saw it hauling butt to the Pier with the Cruise ship docked there, it was escorted to the Pier and then docked out from Coconuts. That was on Saturday.........

For anyone who doesn't have anything to do with their $$$, it charters for $450,000.00/week + expenses.

This one is docked in Crown Bay for the past two days. Has a sailboat and power boat on the stern. It's missing the helicopter that was in the back the last time I saw her. Le Gran Bleu:

That looks like it. It's been lighted up all night. Including underwater floodlights and blinking lights along the waterline. What a sight!

There's a site called yachtspotter.com which can help to identify new interesting ships...

Polar Star was steaming back toward Buck this morning. She makes Shalimar look small.

saw DP & R or some boat with blue flashers boarding it before dark yest. and then it moved. i think they chased it away from buck island. wonder if maybe Tiger Woods is hiding out on it? interesting rumor anyway. makes it exciting..... i am going to get out telescope tonight..8-)

Lets see if we all split the cost we could maybe afford 1/2 each. any takers???

nice to see people with money spending it so wisely. :$)

Dixie they probably didn't have the National Park anchoring permit. There was 2 Nat. Park Rangers on Buck on Sunday on the beach and intwo boats. They made a few people move thier anchors down into the wet sand. Rumor has it that the Park service is going to put something like 50 moorings down and prohibit anchoring.

Is it a coincidence or could there be some VIPs on the big boat. Sunday there were two ranger boats patrolling Buck Island plus an armed ranger in full gear patrolling the beach . The rangers boarded Shalimar and inspected her. Normally you can go weeks without seeing a single ranger at Buck Island.

We saw that, too, Dixie. That was the National Park Service ranger boat. And is it fast!

Looking out in the middle of the night and seeing that ship all lit up - and the water below glowing for about 100' around it - WOW! Just about as pretty as your Christmas lights 😎

As someone who has worked on yachts of all shapes and sizes, including mega yachts, I can testify to the fact that CBP, the USCG, and every other government organization LOVES to "randomly" search boats that are cool and/or expensive. The nicest yacht that I worked on was boarded CONSTANTLY, mainly due to peoples' curiosity.

I have always understood that 'underwater lights' were strictly prohibired in the National Park Waters -- it creates a large artificial feeding frenzy.
