Black Sand Beach on STX ??

I have company here and they said they heard there is a black sand beach on STX...???
Been coming here for 13 years and never heard of it...
Any help greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

never heard of that either. Hawaii has some. Maybe they are getting their islands mixed up.
Black sand I believe comes from volcanic and there are none on STX. It is the only sedimentary island in the area. On a different plate from the other islands. They are volcanic of origin.

Several Caribbean islands have black sand beaches, particularly many of the volcanic islands in the Lesser Antilles, including Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Dominica, St. Lucia and Grenada.

Not on STX . Closest one I know of is on Vieques.
