I've got to renew my truck registration this week and I think my wife's is due sometime late next month. Anybody know how far in advance you can renew your registration? I'm thinking about paying an expeditor and would like to do it in all in one trip if feasible.

Good Question. I would like to do that also.
And did they ever make it so you could renew by mail???

Renew by mail? In USVI??? Really...it's bad enough when you hand walk your papers over. I imagine you would need to mail it in at least 6 months before expiration if they allowed it by mail 😉

Last year I did it three months early, and this year I will try to do the same. I don't think it can be done by mail -- most people require a physical car inspection by the MVB anyway.

The BMV is functioning well. I renewed both of my cars one in Feb and the other in April. Thirty to forty minutes is what it took each time. Just try to get there reasonably early (before 8:30 AM) so they don't get backed up with paperwork in the office.

Last week I needed a replacement drivers license to replace the one I had. The numbers had rubbed off my license and it took less than fifteen minutes to get a new one for no charge and they apologized that the license I had had not held up.

I could not have done as well in Illinois.

Jim.

The times I've used the BMV it has taken about 50 minutes start-to-finish each time (first time even included getting a driver's license in the mix.) I would have done it this week myself but didn't have the time since the registration expires this weekend (and they've been pulling people over and checking at Sunny Isle.)

I used Jason Rames this morning and he took my truck over for the inspection/renewal and was back in about 1.5 hours. Definitely worth the $50 in my case.
