BMV Vehicle inspection- checklist?

Planning to bring an ‘85 Land Rover Defender and a ‘79 Moke to STT next year. What does the BMV check during inspection? I looked on the BMV website, but it gives no details. For example, the Moke doesn’t have a rear bumper, and both have brush guards on the front. I know some areas are sticky about vehicle equipment and tyres that stick out past the fender. I want to make sure everything is tickety-boo.

Thanks,

Paul.

🤣BMV is primarily looking to collect your money. If you pay one of the agencies to facilitate process your cars do not need to appear at all. The junk cars that populate local roads can rival only Somalia. No bumper, no lights=NO Problem. Just get a liability insurance.

Call them.

Have someone clear your vehicle's and register them for you.

STTsailor is correct. Vehicle registration and inspection is just a poorly organized money grab here.

There are dozens of expeditors who will deal with this for you so you don't even need an inspection.

Personally, I haven't had any of my vehicles inspected for years. You'll need real insurance though. The BMV has recently implemented a new procedure where the insurance company must email the insurance slip directly to the Bureau now, so no more making your own insurance slip like the old days.

So true.. I saw a guy get passed and he was missing a brake light among other things.  Think he knew the inspector as well.

Basically they check your lights, signals, brake lights, horn and emergency brake.  That's all they did on my vehicle.
