I want to thank whoever posted the site sidestep. Great site!
I needed to book tickets for daughter and her friend. Started looking a few weeks ago. funny how flights change daily. Last Tuesday 5/16 through 5/26 was $360. went up to $440 Saturday, down to $410 Sunday. Today is back at $360.. so just got them. $360 from Michigan to STT. $360 WOW! good price!

Was that one way or round trip? Also does anyone know if I am planning to travel with my dachshund as a carry on can i book through a site like sidestep or do i have to go directly through the airline? I know the airline needs to know in advance just did not know if it was possible to book through a site like this after finding out how many animals were already booked on a flight.

I booked over the phone when I brought my dog down. Airlines only allow so many dogs each flight, and if you do it over the phone, chances are good you'll get a spot for your doggie. Of course, this costs a little extra. I didn't want to book a flight only to find out the pet capacity was full for that flight.

I'm assuming since its a dachshound that its a carryon? They're not usually more then 20lbs right? If its just your pet is a carryon book the flight with whomever then you can always get your flight info and call them direct to let them know. I've never heard of a limit for carryon pets. Just has to be in a legitimate airline approved pet carrier that will fit under the seat.

I understood that there was only 1 pet per cabin allowed.

When my husband and I came here, we carried on both of our cats so I don't think it's only 1. I'm not sure though if there is a limit. I would check.

Might depend on the airline also.

It probably does Trade. My husband and I were on American Airlines.

There is a limit. I believe it is 5 pets total allowed in economy and 2 pets allowed in business/first.

AA is 5 pet carry ons in economy and 2 pet carry ons in first class. My dachshund is only 9 lbs. I just wasn't sure how often people fly with their pets. I wasn't sure how good of an idea it was to book something on sidestep or another website at a cheap price then called AA to tell them I needed to travel with a pet.
Can you find a cheap price on sidestep (or another website) and find out the flight numbers and then call the airline directly and get the same prices or are the prices listed on these sites only good if you book the flight through them?

It can happen to be cheaper either way. There is no guarentee either way will be cheaper.
You can search sidestep.com but virtually all of the travel search engines do not search all of the airlines serving the destination airport.
Spirit Airlines as an example.
Sometimes it can work out to be cheaper by finding the airports website, looking up what airlines are serving it and then go to those airline websites for prices.
