bringing a vehicle

just wondering if it would be wise to bring a vehicle to st.thomas when we move there or just buy one when we get there are the vehicles much more in price then in the states is it worth the trouble to ship it or not . thanks kenny

This subject gets brought up a lot. IMHO, it makes much more sense to buy one on island, as there are too many vehicles here already. They become abandoned on the side of the road and sit for weeks, sometimes months, before they get taken care of. What an eyesore. And bad for tourism, too. Yes the vehicles cost more here, but that's because they had to be shipped here, so it all works out in the end. The hassles and time required to ship one are more trouble than they are worth. Check out the Island Trader and you will see PLENTY of vehicles for sale...from the very cheap/jalopies, to the very nice/high-end luxry models.
