I'm seriously considering moving to St Thomas to get my nursing degree at the university there this fall. Does anyone have any info or firsthand experience with the school or the nursing program? I would be moving from San Diego with my husband and our 5 year old lab/retriever mix and am just trying to do the most reconnaissance I can! There will definitely be a trip there first of course to suss it out. But any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Is it totally impossible to find an apartment that takes dogs?

Thanks!

An apartment that accepts dogs is doable. I don't know your financial circumstances, but you would likely want to factor private school tuition for your child into your budget.

I don't think she has to send her 5yr old Lab/mix to school:D

Ooops, sorry, I misread. Clearly I need to wear my glasses for activities other than just driving. :$)

I believe you can get a two yr Associates degree in Nursing at UVI-STX, and skip all the freshman english and sociology classes.
And I was told by someone in H.R. at Juan Luis Hospital that starting pay for said degree at the hospital here is $45,000.

Nice! Thanks so much for the info. I think I'm gonna check out both campuses/options... And if I could send my dog to college I'm sure she would get her phD in compost eating or ball chasing 🙂

Hi laurenjmc,

I am currently in my 2nd semester of the nursing program here at UVI-St.Croix. If you have any specific questions, I would be more than happy to answer them for you.
