Is Buck Island close enough to kayak to from St. Croix? How far?
Thanks

I have not seen any kayaks going to Buck Island, but i have seen many people go over in small (8-10 foot)(sunfish?) sail boats. I think I even saw a couple of wind surfers at the beach on Buck Island. If they can make it, I would guess an ocean going kayak should be able to make too.

I have friends on STX who kayak over to Buck Island just about every weekend for the exerise. They have a that you paddle with you feet, (bicycle style) and pack their gear in plastic trash bags. It's not that far, depending on where you put in. They even take their dog with them. They say it is great exercise!

Depends on where you're leaving from. It's 6-7 miles from downtown Christiansted, but only 1 or 2 from one of the eastern beaches.
