buying chicken and other specific groceries

Hi everyone,

As you may know from my earlier posts I wish to move to STJ. I assume I will be shopping on both islands as needed for home stuff and groceries as the starfish market is quite pricey. Where do people buy chicken breasts and how much do they go for? I am happy to buy in bulk and freeze. My other wish list items will include frozen berries, frozen broccoli (assuming fresh is expensive for both berries and broc.), egg whites, yogurt (these aren't too bad at starfish as compared to where I live now)and sweet potatoes I am mostly concerned with the chicken. We have thoroughly wondered the aisles of starfish comparing prices but these items I eat the most of everyday. I am a fitness trainer and here I eat quite particularly although I am starting to make adjustments and move away from items that may not be accessible on the island. Any suggestions are of great help.

Sarah

You can buy large bags of frozen chicken breasts at Cost-U-Less. They also have a large frozen section for other items and pretty good fruits and veggies, depending on the day you shop.

I'll second what East Ender said about Cost-U-Less. Between Starfish and Cost-U-Less or KMart on St. Thomas, you should be able to find everything you mentioned. I also recommend shopping online for non-perishables and toiletries. CVS.com offers $10 off every purchase over $50, and I believe they ship here for free. You can buy snacks, like fig bars, yogurt covered raisins, animal crackers, etc. through CVS. We also like www.drugstore.com. Good luck with your move!

Thanks so much for the tips from the both of you. I understand sacrifices will have to be made to make our move but at the same time I need to feel I can keep much of my diet the same!
