Buying from Home Depot in FL

Good morning.

HomeDepot.com told me I can buy from one of the FL stores and the store will arrange for shipment to VI. The phone rep couldn't tell me if I have to pay the shipping charges (I'm assuming yes) and if so, how the rate is determined.

The rep tried connecting me to the store, but they were too busy to answer phone. I tried calling later but got a voicemail. Left message, but no return call.

Has anybody orders through FL/

Thank you, and happy Easter!

BTW, Home Depot in States has a rechargeable Ryobi fan that somebody was raving about after the storm.

Yes you can. They charge for shipping and it’s not cheap. Also, they charge fl sales tax but this can be refunded with some additional effort. You basically shop on line and submit your order to HD international rep.

When merchandise arrives in VI expect to pay import taxes according to the place of manufacture. Surprisingly, you may find out that Whirlpool manufacturers in Mexico or Toyota or BMW is US built product. Good luck.

Ordering from HD in the states isn't much different than ordering from anywhere else in the states. You can order from others and ship to freight forwarder. You can also do special order from the local HD but every time I've asked the lead time was going to be outrageous. I wanted to get something one time that they had at STT HD and not carried in STX HD. Special order 6-8 weeks from the states. I bought in the states on a trip and flew back with it.
They have a procedural difference for ordering between an item normally stocked and temporarily out vs. an item not normally stocked.

In STT they keep telling me I can only "order" what's in the store, so you're essentially just buying before you go to store same day to pick up. The signs say you can "order online" but fail to mention the restrictions. Very misleading.

Sea Chest in St Thomas has waaaay better service. The associates know where everything is, and they can look in computer and tell you if something is on order and when it's expected. Home Depot knows nothing.

Agree on Sea Chest In STT. Great service. Nice selection. HD in STT has very uninformed crew w minor exception. The store is much larger then Sea Chest.

I order from home depot online frequently and have my order shipped to Paradise Freight on St. Croix. Our store is so pathetically managed and often out of stock that I find it less frustrating to order online. At least I know I'll get what I ordered even though I have a wait a few weeks. Its the same as Office Max...I never bother going there anymore either.
