BVI reminds public of increased departure tax

The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority is reminding the public, including people attending the Old Year's Night activities on Jost Van Dyke, of the increased departure tax for all persons departing the BVI, whether returning to the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or elsewhere outside of the BVI.

The new tax schedule reflects a $10 fee for BVI residents - including individuals carrying a BVI passport or Belonger's Card who may live outside of the BVI - and $15 for all other visitors.

Inter Island Ferry Services, one of the ferries transporting visitors to Jost Van Dyke, will be collecting departure tax on behalf of the BVI Ports Authority, while passengers on other ferries will pay upon arrival in Dog Hole, Jost Van Dyke.

For more information, contact the BVI Ports Authority at 284-494-3435.

I guess that is in addition to the "entry" fee?
