I bought one car from CAM and had no problem. Others have had different experiences. One person who posts rants against them is someone who had planned to move here and work for them. It didn't work out and he has been posting about them ever since. As with most large purchases, buyer beware.

I did not know you have to live here in order to have an opinion. I was also under the impresssion that this is a relocation site to assist people who want to move to the V.I. So, when some one asks a question about car dealers, electricians etc. they want feedback which is what they're getting. So if some one has had a bad experience it should be posted so they don't have a similar bad experience.

"One person who posts rants against them is someone who had planned to move here and work for them. It didn't work out and he has been posting about them ever since".
If that's how they're going to treat an employee what makes you think you'll be treated any better? Sounds like good advise to me.

P.S. Lindaj where do you live now?;)

I am not being sarcastic or trying to start a fight. I understand you lived here for a long time. But. Are you less qualified to answer questions or give advise because you don't live here now?

Whom ever you are referring to stated their experience with CAM. The fact that they don't live here does not change that bad experience. It still happened.:-)

Lots of vehicles advertised for sale in Island trader and Daily News, including trucks, SUV's, etc.
Just take to trustworthy mechanic before plopping your $$$ down.

Jeeps really aren't my preference. I like Toyota and pickups, personally.

I feel qualified to speak about my experience with CAM, which I did.

I remember that poster from a while ago. He apparently was hired as a mechanic by CAM from off-island and there was a lot of ensuant back and forth about who was going to pay for what. I seem to recall that, according to him, he got the proverbial shaft but don't recall that he actually ever took the position, just had a bad taste from his application experience. I'm sure you can fill me in on al the details or link me to that thread since you seem to recall the story well enough to reference it in dunning CAM.

To slam and denigrate a company because one person had a bad experience is just so "off" and particularly when it's based on pure hearsay. No business is immune from having a dissatisfied customer and if you base your opinion of any business based on one or two documented gripes out of thousands of satisfied customers then you're speaking from an ignorant standpoint and are simply a rabble-rouser.

Nothing but good things to say about CAM. The GM is a good guy, a friend sells cars for them. I've personally seen the way he takes care of his customers and it was the first place I went when I needed a new car. I went to the friend first knowing she'd get me the lowest possible price, later I was talking to Jay (GM) and mentioned the Jeep I wanted and he quoted me the same low price with no haggling. When it turned out TransUnion says I have no credit history and thus would need a massive down payment to get a loan, they offered to hook me up with a private seller that was leaving Island and selling a Jeep. Pretty honest dealing if you ask me.

Oh, and to the poster that said they couldn't get her a loan with no down payment and another dealer could, CAM uses TransUnion. Most dealerships only use one credit bureau and that's the one they use. I have credit history and Equifax has a report for me, TransUnion doesn't, apparently my accounts are too old. The other dealer you went to probably uses a different bureau which would explain why that happened.
