CAR TAG RENEWAL

Returning to STX next week.
I have been off island long enough that my car tags expired in January 2013
When I get it out of storage I intend to head straight to DMV and get them renewed
Anyone know how much of a hassle this is going to be?
What about extra charges ?
Thanks

When that happened to me there was no additional hassle but I did have to pay a "penalty"... It was about $25...

I had to pay a small penalty as well, just a few dollars. They will give you a form you can fill out stating you were off island and there is no charge. But you have to have it notarized. That is about $25 in the parking lot. Cheaper to pay the fine, for just a few days.

Thanks for the information
Hopefully I will not get a ticket heading to the DMV

Notary's fees are $5. They are ripping you off otherwise.

but the notary set up on the grounds of the stx BMV has always been at least $20...or they tell you THE FORM costs $20 and then has to be notarized...and the folks at the counter say they don't have the form....

They gave me a blank form for this year.

Got them renewed and no extra charge and no hassel
Then my, neibghor, 2 days later, tells me if I get a senior card that it would be 1/2 price
Just my luck...2 days to late
all in all..45 minuets to get it done
