What kind of carpentry? Cabinet-making, house-building?

Honestly if you were on island you could have a job within a few days but very few will hire you off island. Some of the large contractors will fly in "talent" from the mainland so that is your best bet. Try www.viphonebook.com and look up contractor.

There is an ad in the virginislandsdailynews.com right now for a finish carpenter. I have a buddy that does handyman type stuff (plumbing, electrical, tile, etc.) and is booked SOLID making $40 an hour. I have to cook him steaks just to get him to my house, when I'm too lazy to do something myself, which is more often than not 😉

Good luck! Just make the move and find a job when you get here. Its easier than you think.

There's a GOOD business for a guy to just complete "Honey-Do" lists for those without a honey or with a honey without any manual skills. I'd probably have 2 days work myself. I just spent Saturday waiting for my security door to be replaced (2nd attempt) & he never showed up or called.
