What else is new?
Teachers and nurses, dental technicians, etc., are always in demand.

But they aren't always posted on craigslist. I didn't say this was a new concept.

My apologies for trying to give potential teachers more options.

Looks like one of these positions is for an English teacher!

Lol! Yep. Last week somebody on the radio said 50% of the students in public schools do not speek English.

Friends who reluctantly send their kids to private schools have told me it's because they want to make sure their kids learn "standard English". Most kids who attend private schools here have no or very little noticeable Caribbean accent.

I can not explain why.

So post the link if you wish to be helpful.
Or maybe I could ask:
Where's the link at.
Where's that at?

I assume computer literate adults are on this forum. I post info - not links.

This site does not financially benefit from non advertising links, so I try not to post them. If a biz needs employees, they should pay to advertise on this site.

Catholic School may have advertised on this site, but nobody has posted the link. Therefore I am not posting links.

Apologize because I am not posting links? This site relies on advertising revenue.

This is not your site nor is it Old Tart's. If the owners of this site take offense at any post, they should remove or apologize. We all also have the freedom to report any post.

I can barely "speek" your language.
I'm sorry but please tell me what exactly is standard English these days?

Continue to "speek" your piece, ms411.
You're not giving these kids that work hard to learn their due.
Boom, done.

I have seen and heard hundreds of young students, [over my years here], that have grown up here who speak both standard English and a very local dialect, both with an easy fluency. No matter what school they have attended! My daughter born and raised in St Thomas would switch between them with her friends here all the time. Listen to our Senators, many with stateside college educations, on LegitTV at the televised hearings, and you can hear a Caribbean accent and a mix of both standard English and dialect as well.

Many years ago while walking on Main St. my daughter turned around and in serious West Indian language reamed out some school boys in their blue uniforms because of what they were saying about her while walking behind her - they quickly apologized - in standard English no less and embarrassed, crossed the street . When I expressed my surprise at her strong accent she said " Daddy, I bahn here"

I'm actually surprised because the last I heard the church as well as the school wasn't fairing to well with this economy and thought it wouldn't be long before the door were closed on the school. I'm glad to see that they are looking to hire so it maybe good news. My wife went to school at the Catholic School and really liked the school.

Students are continuing to be enrolled on St. Croix at St. Mary's Catholic School. Do not know status of other Catholic Schools.

Sts. Peter and Paul is a good school.
They're at a disadvantage because they're in town and can't expand but they give a good education. Everyone used to live in town, originally.
