there is only Sprint and Cingular here, so you're in luck! although the service is spotty in areas and many people who call me from the mainland regularly get a "all circuits are busy" message when they call.... i usually don't have any problems calling out though

I have Sprint and Cingular. Innovative might have a local cell service also. Centennial also. All the other major services roam on Sprint or Cingular, etc. I can use Cingular in far more areas than I can Sprint. Although, with Sprint we have unlimited long distance on our home phone for $15 dollars a month, so that was worth keeping the Sprint cell phone and of course free long distance on Sprint cell phone too (within plan minutes). Anyway, you may want to just try Sprint here since you already have it. 😉

I just switched to Cingular down here, and I haven't run into any probs yet. When you apt shop, make sure to bring your phone with you to see if it will get service there - so far I haven't had any problems

After much evaluation I had a Sprint and Cingular phone at the same time, and I had much better reception on the Cingular phone so I returned the Sprint. A few weeks ago the Sprint system went down, you can probably read some posts on here about it, but Cingular never went down and I have never had a problem.

However, if you want to keep your current phone it should work well and thne you don't have to swtich etc etc. Although not having a local number would be bad for job dearching etc because that gives off the tourist vibe
