I'm planning on moving to St.Thomas mid October. I called a Real Estate agency to find an apartment. The lady on the phone told me she had no apartments available in safe neighbourhoods at the moment. If someone could tell me if there are any safe areas to live in and if so what are their names? I 'm moving there from Italy and I appreciate any help.......

Danilo,

If I were you I would focus on short term housing or hotel - so you can see for yourself where you want to live. It is near impossible to tell you what areas you would feel safe in - not knowing your personal likes and dislikes. Also, do some searches on this board for discussions about housing. You might find answers that way. Good luck!

Hi Danilo,
When I was there two weeks ago, I found many apt. for rent in safe areas. I guess it depends on what you want. There is this one house across from Mandahl market. It is a house being renovated with I think 6 apt. there are a few 1 and 2 bedrooms ava. The lay out is ok but I think it would be a good place to live because of the location, the market is right at the bottom of the hill and you are in between Magens and Tutu beach. You def. need a car. Here is the number: 340-715-4272
Good luck, time is running out and many places are going fast. I was lucky to find my house. i have more numbers if you need.

Danillo,

If you do a search on the boards you will find plenty of comments about safety. But I would say Nothside you can't go wrong, and East End/Red Hook are a pretyy good bet as well. But I like Teresea's advice come stay in short term rental and then get to know the island.
