I doubt I would ever see anyone at MY house after dark. *I* don't even go outside after dark, unless I'm with my dogs.

Exit - What side of Crown Mountain ... North or South ?

OK guys, here it is. The US and PR do a sample of the population every year and gather all the stuff on the form the USVI gets (minor differenceds, ie live on a boat?). Other territories Including USVI) get all those questions once every ten years. Fed money follows the count.

If you live on a boat they will be announcing pick up points.

Really ? You know this as a fact ? Where and when will it be announced ?

TV ? Radio ? Daily News ?

I've heard my co-workers talking about them coming to their homes but none yet at the Reef - as far as I know.

The only place I know they've been to is Contant. I still haven't seen anybody in my neighborhood, and I'm leaving tomorrow for vacation.

It's almost like they intentionally want the VI to be undercounted. Conspiracy???

IMO the census and the ACS (American Community Survey) are two different counts but they're both conducted by the Census Bureau. My understanding of the constitution is only PEOPLE are to be counted. Not plumbing and toilets, etc. When is the count supposed to end?

They came through the upper end of Richmond earlier this week while I was over there visiting some friends.

Two nice ladies came by our house (Constitution Hill) this evening around 7:00 to pick up our census forms. I explained to them we'd never received a form, so they said they would drop one off for us tomorrow evening.

Huh? A couple of people have posted that they'd been visited on STX, including me. Read again.

Just fyi, a very nice STX lady census taker came up our road in Cane Bay last week. She stayed outside and the only question she had was to verify our physical address.

I found them to be extremely unprofessional. The lady that came by our house was looking in our windows as I came to the front door and yelling at me to come.

I still haven't see anyone at all here on the Northside.

Three very professional folks came to the house last week on Water Island and interviewed my spouse. My spouse was caught off-guard by some of the questions....and the number of questions they asked - some he answered, some he didn't want to answer but figured it was public information anyway so what the heck, and a few questions he politely declined to answer. He said that 2 out of the 3 of them did the most talking and he was quite impressed with their knowledge, intelligence, well-spoken, kindly manner. It didn't take very long at all.

Thanks for the number Suzette, I'll give it a try. I didn't speak to her because I was afraid at that point I would loose my temper, so I let my husband handle it, not sure if he got her name.

They came out about 3 weeks ago, and we didn't have our form ready, so they came back about a week later. Very nice and pleasant. We got a call yesterday, and they asked my husband why he didn't answer some of the questions. He told them why, and they agreed he didn't have to answer them. No problem.

Interesting - we got a call about 2 weeks after they picked it up asking why we didn't answer all of the questions and the women kept getting nasty and telling me we HAD to it was REQUIRED. I informed her that I did not have to answer according to the US Constitution and her response was that the Virgin Islands Constitution required it. I told her our conversation was over if she didn't even know that the VI didn't have a constitution and requested that she never call us again. So far they haven't called back.

You could have told her not only don't we have a constitution, but the proposed one is unconstitutional!

A census worker came here a month ago, I told her I'd participate 10 questions 10 minutes like the sign at our local post office here in STT.

She told me that sign is for the states, we have more questions. I reminded her the sign was posted here.
I then told her to be careful of questions she selects to ask as I understand some are intrusive & appropriate.
She asked 10 very basic questions(at least 2 had to do with heath care).

In regards to the Census 2010 I've noticed that workers aren't being paid as well as workers in the states. Several office workers told me they were making 10 bucks an hour while workers in the states make bout 20 bucks an hour. I wonder why the VI had the pay cut?
