What airports traditionally offer the cheapest flights to STX? I have a voucher that will get me to any airport in the lower 48. From there I can buy a ticket to STX. Any ideas??

American has daily flights out of Miami. I would guess that's the cheapest.

It won't if the voucher only says, "lower 48."

Take a look at Ft. Lauderdale. Choose from American or Spirit.

Spirit had some crazy low fares to STT from Orlando thru Ft. Lauderdale, $69-100 one way a couple weeks ago. Does Spirit fly direct to STX?

No STX yet. There have been rumors, but that seems to be all they are, for now.

No magic tricks. You just have to sign up for emails about fare alerts and check the internet often. If you leave from stx or come here you will usually go through PR or Miami. So try to get the cheapest flights you can to those major hubs. From PR you can find puddle jumpers that are sometimes cheaper then American. You can always try looking for a cheap flight to stt and then get a puddle jumper, so far I've never found a good rate going through stt though.

Remember though, if you piece together your flight yourself, and you miss a connection, it's your problem. If you book all the way through with one airline, it's on them to take care of the situation, like getting you on the next flight or putting you in a hotel, etc.

If it is weather related they probably won't pay for your hotel. Twice last season we had friends get stuck in PR because of stateside weather delays and they had to pay for their own hotel. They were booked straight through on American / American Eagle..

You have to push american eagle harder. Just call the stateside AA. They want to keep their name, they will do it if corp forces them to. The one in pr is privately owned and they are an horrible company to deal with. You have to be willing to fight a little.

American Eagle doesn't care. If you try and press them they just walk away.

One of our visitors had Platinum status with AA. In San Juan they told him he could pound sand all they were willing to do is get him on the morning flight to STX.

I fly using Spirit Airlines, from Miami (one way) I think it is only 79 dollars

Cape Air may not be the cheapest, but it is has the most flights and very reliable. You can buy a pack of 10 one way coupons for a discount.
