Churches in STX

Hello,

My husband, 14 year old son and I are considering the move to STX. We have many friends who live there already, my hubby has a good job lined up (I think good - is $24 an hour good there?). I am close to finishing up my Masters Degree in Education. Currently I am a full-time Children's Minister in a large baptist church - are there any baptist churches in St. Croix or large non-denominational churches? How hard is it to get a ministry position? Also, shipping furniture - is it expensive?

Sunnyg,

My wife and I are very much like you - we were leaders in our church's children's ministry back in the States, and one of our main concerns when moving here was finding a good church home. There are around 7-8 Baptist churches here, if I'm not mistaken (and I might be - STXers, correct me if I'm wrong). None would be considered large by big city standards back in the States. We are currently attending Southgate Baptist Church, and we love it.

Hello,

What does a Children's Minister do? In very large churches are there separate masses for children, families with young children? Or is it more of a youth counselor?

I would suggest contacting one of the Baptist Churches on St. Croix and asking for a list of all of them. Here are a couple I found in the phone book:

Community Baptist Church (340)778-1121 and [email protected] they mention a Young People's Group.

Island Baptist (340)772-1288

Muckle Memorial Baptist Church (340)773-5990

I don't know what to suggest about finding a job with them besides contacting them and asking about their youth programs, ministries, available positions??

Shipping furniture - depends on how much (weight/size). You might contact Lee at Managed Freight for assistance, he's on St. Croix. http://www.managedfreight.com/
