What are some companies that you use for clothing/shoes that ship here.? I usually use Old Navy,Gap ,Lands End & JCPenney . Piperlime is a great site for shoes. Just wondering what other people use.

A few places that ship via USPS Priority (the cheapest way)

J Crew
Nordstrom
Beach Bliss
Pottery Barn
Company Store
Restoration Hardware
Crate and Barrel
CVS
Drugstore
Dermstore - for great deals on facial products etc [www.dermstore.com]
Ebay (some vendors)
and more - but that gives you an idea

EBAY for sure! Great for housewares like sheets & small appliances plus I get a lot of my shoes there (new.) Just do make sure, as Piaa mentioned that the seller will mail to the USVI, not use Fed-Ex or UPS which are ridiculously expensive here.

Also:

Lands' End
JC Penney's
Amazon.com for books
Neiman-Marcus
Coldwater Creek
J.Jill
Magellan's for travel goods

Another great book source is Daedalus books. They not only ship here, but when you order, the shipping is 4.95, now matter how many books you order.

Barnes & Noble. Free shipping over $25
Old Navy/Gap/Banana Republic
Target (but not for oversized items)
Macys
Sears
Ditto Trade about Ebay. You REALLY have to educate some sellers regarding USPS v. UPS or FedEx.

also note this:

While many ship to the U.S.V.I. some are not set up to except payment from a credit card with an address in the V.I. , however, most credit card companies will let you use two addresses and we set one up with parents' stateside address so we could order online.

Ditto on the Victoria's Secret. Best swimsuits and during the winter you can get them cheap! They always shipped fast, but they will fill up your mail box with catalogs!

Red Hook Postal Service have a service to receive packages in the states and then forward them to the island for any company that won't ship directly to the V.I. At least they did last year. If you really need something, it might be worth looking into.

Back Street Boxes in Bakery Square (town) also provides this service.

My .02 for those interested in yet another option:

I keep a box at a UPS store in the states for those times that I cannot get a company to ship here.

After checking out many available mail services offered through the states and here, I found that having a box at a UPS store was the least expensive option. I have also been very pleased their very reliable service in the past year (plus). Even though it is UPS, they have no problem with forwarding my packages to me via USPS -- Priority or Parcel post, whatever I prefer.

Once again fellow posters -- great thread. I love these types of threads, where we get to share much useful information!

Adding my two cents.

We live on STX and have a regular USPS po box. I also have 2 credit cards with VI billing and mailing addresses. I have had very little problem ordering on-line, paying with my VI cc and having my packages shipped to my USPS po box. A few companies have lost my business, but that number declines every day as on-line shopping grows and businesses get more savvy..

My po box costs $39 a year.

Since we are still on my favorite subject (), I thought I would add, see if you can find a friend (or your husband) who receives mail at work.
I use my office for both packages and magazine subscriptions. It greatly increased the success rate for delivery for my New Yorker/Wired/Nat' Geo. and also means that my packages are received by a person.

Otherwise, if you have a PO box you have to stand in line to pick up the package. Very time-consuming.

wow, thanks so much for the info everyone! It really helped (and also made me feel better about not being out of touch from the rest of the world.) I figure anything i really need but can't get my sister or mother can ship down here, but i don't want to be constantly nagging them. Thanks again!
