Greetings all !

I follow the boards a lot but in the background so this is my first post.

I have been here in the islands for a few years and do have a bit of a professional network as well. I know that there are some fellow computer people on the boards so thought I might see if anyone can suggest any businesses that are looking for computer people. I do check the Labor website, Career.VI, and Indeed on a regular basis and have seen some jobs there but I also know that many times there is stuff out there that doesn't show up with sites like that. I have quite a few years of experience in a wide variety of areas with computers and can provide a resume .

If anyone knows of companies that are needing help / has any tips that they could PM it would be greatly appreciated ! !

Thank you all in advance

might be better to post them here, saying your an "IT" guy is like asking someone to identify an animal by the trait : it breaths air......

are you a Network guy, DBA , Security, Windows-Linux-Unix admin, Customer support, disaster recovery, data management, etc etc etc...

These days I am mostly doing networks and system support. I do have some programming experience but would be really rusty at it. I have done security consulting as side work in the past as well as teaching classes for users to be more secure in the way they do things. Experience in all sorts of wiring for both phones and computers. Have worked with PBX systems, both the traditional stuff and have done a bit with VOIP stuff as of late. I do have a lot of different experience in a lot of different areas which has been a good thing down here because you have to know a little about everything many times to get stuff done.

Retailers and excursion providers need help in setting up online booking capability. Also more businesses may need consultation on moving functions to the cloud.

Most people have so much experience with computers now that techs are rarely needed except for much larger organizations.

I haven't taken a PC to a tech for repair in years.

we don't work on individual PC's much any more your right, and this isn't what STgeek is speaking about.

you're right though, we have to work for larger org.s generally.

Not to mention that computers are so cheap these days they could almost be considered to be disposable in many cases.

Whenever I decommission a computer in our office, I salvage all the usable parts so I can triage other machines that might become sick later.

Hold on...

**#GRAMMAR POLICE#**
triage is the process of determining the priority of patients' treatments based on the severity of their condition, I don't think that's what you were going for with it's usage
**#GRAMMAR POLICE#**

Not a bad idea really, especially if you do not have a big IT budget where you are.

It's a good idea anywhere really. No use in letting perfectly good parts goto waste. Especially good idea here in the islands where there is a distinct lack of places that you can get parts from
