Your perception is that those who bleat live under a cloud of negativity but perhaps they are just imbued with a better sense of reality than are others, who wear rose colored glasses.

Yes. I feel pity for those who can so rarely see a positive but live under a cloud of negativity.

There's both positive and negative reality and, like everything else, balancing them is I think healthier for all concerned. There's nothing so depressing as being around someone who complains all the time but it's also almost frightening to be around someone who's constantly one big bubble of happiness wearing rainbows in their hair and chanting kumbaya.

The landfills are overflowing, roadside dumpsters are both ugly and overflowing, state of the art waste stations are finally being constructed and there's a fee for using them. Cries of horror and, "yeah, like people who dump tires in the bush are going to drive to a waste station" - like they drove to a dumpster? Some people just can't handle change, even if it's positive change.

Isn't the intent to phase out dumpsters for tipping stations? I think more people are concerned that people will dispose of all trash wherever rather than pay a fee. People did that even when there were bins and with fewer bins more people may illegally dispose of every day trash.

They will never solve the trash issue. Never.

Ummmm, not at the Peters Rest site. And there is no scale there so they will not be charging for garbage delivered there.

Is that one of the brand new waste stations? The only one I'm familiar with is the recently-opened station in Mandahl on St Thomas. I think it was the first of the new ones.

PS: No, the one you're referring to isn't. The Mandahl site opened a month or so ago and, "Mario Leonard, director of solid waste for the St. Thomas-St. John district, said that the VIWMA expects to eventually construct approximately four Convenience Centers on St. Croix, two on St. John, four or five on St. Thomas and one on Water Island. The average estimated costs of building the centers is approximately $1 million each depending on size and services offered, he said."
