Crazy new tax assessment?

Hi everyone,

I have had the valuation of my STT property dramatically increased, given a valuation nearly 50% higher than those of any of the properties currently for sale all around me.

I have called the tax assessor's office repeatedly and left my information on their answering machine repeatedly with no response.

I have heard that they will do a reassessment, but I have gotten nowhere. Anybody know who else to call or have any advice on how to proceed?

Many thanks for your help.

I had an assessment increase 55% in value, far beyond list value on MLS. I took the bill to the tax assessors office and discussed with a representative. They will look into it and get back with me. Because of the volume I'm thinking this will take a while.

Unfortunately it seems your best bet is to go to the office in person and talk with someone.

I paid my property tax bills today. 1 was lower and 1 was higher.
After I paid, I went to the upstairs to the Tax Assessors Office and requested a revaluation on the one that was higher. I was helped immediately and paperwork was filled out and will be processed, then they'll call to make appointment to go to see the property.

You have to go into the office to see them and fill out a form.
You are wasting your time waiting for a return call.

Note: If you have paid your taxes prior to requesting a revaluation and they do revaluate property and it does come in lower, then you'll get the credit for overpayment on your next bill.
