Please report power outages in this thread so potential residences can have an idea as to where and how frequent. Also, to give me something to do until power comes back!

I'm on STT, Wintberg. Second time this week. Last time less than an hour. Will start cooking when power restored, and will post when it happens.

Power restored. Cistern pump working again, and will cook now.

Hopefully it will stay on so I can resume my movie after cooking.

A thread such as this will run to hundreds of pages in short shrift. By the time you write about it the power will be back on again. Can't see that documenting every little outage is of use to anyone, particularly when the outages are invariably area and feeder-specific.

North side STX Feeder 6
We lose power about once a month for usually no more than an hour.
After the last non-storm we were out 7 hrs.
Omar we were out 9 days...

Love my generator!

Potential residents need to know what it's like to live here so they can prepare. Our landlord doesn't have generator, so I am going to document on this forum when the power goes out and how it affects me.

Nobody is forced to read it or contribute.

I had already heated up and eaten leftovers from yesterday before power went out, but wanted to sautee onions and garlic to season canned string beans. Had to wait until power was restored, and they hit the spot!

This is why one should look for accommodations that have a generator. When the power goes out, it goes on. UPS on all electronics and you are good to go.

So true, East Ender! Please post that reminder every timd someone asks about a place to stay. We chose security over generator which is more important to us.

Power was out in town as traffic lights were out when heading from Tax Accessor's office.
to go up Mafolie Hill earlier this PM/STT. It was on when I got home but 2nd outage this week as there are problems with one of the units. Can't remember which unit she mentioned (22?) when I called WAPA when power was out on Tues for about 2 hrs.
I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a localized problem they were not aware of.
WAPA's on my speed dial since we have so many outages.

It's wonderful to have a generator but a propane stove is a must. If one really needs water, well, the bucket attached to a rope to get it out of cistern always works if need be.
Or just keep several gallons handy. I save my old plastic juice and milk containers and fill those during hurricane season and for outages. I'll leave a couple in my freezer as well to help keep things cold or for use if/when melted/

We all know that it does not take a storm to take WAPA down.
We just never know for how long it's going to be for.

Renters should definitely keep several gallons at least. They may not have access to cistern.

Have back ups for phones and tablets. My Kindle Fire HD won't charge. Not sure if it's worth repairing, but I wouldn't get another.

Get a gas grill (with a side burner). Or you can get a small propane table top single burner stove that runs on one of those small 1lb bottles. Just like going camping.
