Maybe. There are no dermatologists listed in the yellow pages on STJ, but it's a small island so you might not have enough to form a patient base.

Here's what's listed:
2 on STT
1 on STX
3 on PR
1 on BVI

We could use a good one on STX.

I am having a total deja vu about this question!;) If you will consider having your practice on St Thomas (where the population base is) and living on St John (if that is your desire), please hurry on down!

My husband has a dermatologist in San Juan. He has also been to a dermatologist on STX. Comparing procedures (apples to apples), he can pay for the airline ticket to San Juan and the doctor's visit (including surgical procedure in office) for less than on STX.

He also has more confidence in the doctor in San Juan, (which is more important).

The answer to your question hasn't changed since you asked last year.

What dontw8 said is true. Come on down, we'd still love to have a board-certified dermatologist on STJ, but to have a thriving practice you will have to work at least half-time in St. Thomas.

If you do cosmetic procedures in addition to practicing basic dermatology, your services will undoubtedly be in high demand. Pricing is also key. I had one procedure done in January on STX and, while I found it to be satisfactory, the price was ridiculous compared to the states. That being said, I will definitely price shop before I have the procedure repeated here.
